"Aversion to work or exertion; laziness; indolence."
A VICE UNDERCOVER. There are [a lot of] times when Bruno Mars' The Lazy Song applies to life. Wanting to do nothing but just laying on the bed - a classic. It was a lazy Sunday morning when I found myself in the very same scenario; I had to drag myself off my bed to get my morning cereal. And then I got myself thinking: Was it my body which desires an overindulging ease or was it my mind which takes over?
Today, I had innumerable attempts to study for my exams for this coming Saturday but opted to linger around Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr for hours. Then The Tudors came up on the television; I was hooked and I needed to focus so I could understand every single detail of the story (as if I haven't seen it several times before). Before I managed to write a single sentence for this blog post, there had been a lot of procrastination that went on. Now it's past midnight and I have just begun working on this essay. Out of all the deadly sins, sloth appears to be the staple of my daily routine. So I guess it's just suitable and timely that I'm writing about sloth.
Sloth, according to the dictionary, is extreme laziness - disinclination to action or labor; having too little drive. What's so bad about falling into a daydream on a Sunday morning? Or about being glued on the couch on a Friday night? I'm pretty certain that a few hours of apathy is hardly a sin. So how did sloth make to the major seven? While sloth is heavily acquainted to physical tardiness, it's more than just that. Sloth becomes more of a sin when it plunges deeper into one's being; thus, provoking spiritual - and psychological, if you prefer - apathy. This answers my earlier question: is sloth a state of mind or a bodily desire? The answer is either or both. When sloth creeps into us, the body, mind, and spirit become three different entities. That is why there are times when we seem to have 0% physical stamina or 0% enthusiasm or even 0% faith. Sloth consumes all three different entities which makes it more of an alarming vice.
Sloth, moreover, is such a stealthy, sneaky sin. It's the stealthiest of sins. We would normally not see sloth coming; and if we do, we would welcome it warmly instead of turning our backs on it. It would cunningly grab your back and before you know it, you're already on your bed, lying aimlessly. Sloth eradicates the drive to work while taking advantage of human nature's yearning for comfort. Plainly speaking, I feel eased that this essay is coming to an end since I've been combating against sloth the whole time.

Dull and lifeless - that's the main idea for my interpretation of the sin of sloth. I nonetheless could not let the outfit be boring. I chose a combination of cream and black then adorned it with turquoise and blues. The colors, the dream catcher, scattered books, lace, fur, the pasty makeup look, and the blank eyes were all for portrayal of sloth.

Black and white and pops of blue. And a messy loose side braid because I'm too slothful to get a sleek hairdo.
